What To Expect

What to expect from individual therapy?

You might experience your clinician looking for themes and patterns in your life, they may make connections from your past to your present.

What can I expect in couples therapy?

In couples therapy, you can expect that the client is the couple, not either individual couple member. You can expect to identify your patterns as a couple, understand how your couple has co-created issues, and begin to talk to your partner in more effective ways. Couples therapy can take one to two years depending on the couple, the therapist, and the issues at hand.

What can I expect in family therapy?

Family therapy involves all members of your family. You can expect your therapist to get to know each member and give each member of your family space to discuss what they believe the issue is. Family therapy is a commitment from all members and can take 6 months to one year to reach your family goals. Your therapist will meet as many family members that can attend and may decide who they want to come to sessions as time progresses.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Give yourself an extra 10 minutes to find our location, we have multiple waiting rooms. Contact your therapist when you arrive or if you are going to be late. Once you are in the office with your therapist, you can expect your therapist to go over necessary paperwork, HIPPA policies, safety protocols, and practice policies. You can expect your therapist to ask you questions about your mental health history, your relationship history, and collect data about what you are currently experiencing.
